You ever see those kickass youtube, pvp videos with the slick editing or those boss fights, with all the special effects?

Yeah this isn't one of them.

I started using the game cam to watch myself play my Hunter.  I would go back an analyze what I did wrong or right, and try and improve my game.  (I have like 9 hours of PvP stuff alone.)

Here's a few clips I cut out of some various videos I've taken.  You'll notice some familiar things like our raid with the Silvermoon Swordmaidens to some OLD stuff like me an Irmie running BFD, trying to figure out how to better play our Hunters.  (Man we were bad in that run, but we spent forever practicing different pulls and trap placement that night.)

The video file itself is big.  It'll take some time to load, but I wanted the best quality I could get since so many WoW videos you can't see anything but blobs.  I think it's funny how much my UI has changed since I've been playing.

Most it it's taken from the aspect of a Hunter or Healer SOOOO it's isn't up close and personal.  And yeah you need to watch it with sound.  Billy Idol ftw.

That was AWESOME!

Very nice, I enjoyed seeing your various interfaces and it was fun watching how you switched from a confrontational style (in BFD) to a more controlling style over the course of your playing.

I appreciate the couple of times Ehman was on screen, you made him look good  Wink

How cool is that! Chaggy with a video that's awesome!

/faint

That was so terrific - it's interesting to see that old BFD run and see how the play style has changed. Well put together and the dirty dancing really cracked me up. Do the belf males really dance that way or did you have to edit some of it? Also I was facinated by the changes in your screen layout. I'm slowly considering making some changes myself to my layout.

Now I want a game cam too - I'm simply stunned by this, it's great.

I can't play zoomed in anymore.

I have to see everything.  I moved nearly everything to the bottom of the screen.  Lets my eyes track everything I need in combat.   The black eepanels that everything sits on, gives it a widescreen movie feel.

Belf males DO dance like that.

Fennis give that woman a belf lapdance!

I downloaded GameCam today and tried it out. Seems user friendly enough that even I can figure it out. However! I can't seem to view the movies after I've recorded them. They auto set to .avi and windows media player doesn't recognize that file format SO IT SAYS (contrary to MS's website). So I'm not sure if the GC isn't saving them right, or if Media player is screwy or if I really am that bad at technology that anything I test breaks. Coders love me - I can always break their code when testing something.

Windows Movie Maker

It came loaded on my laptop.

It's pretty user friendly for computer novices like myself.

Someone who had some talent would say was too basic and restrictive.

It's fun, once you get rolling.  For me the longest part was going through all the video finding those 20 seconds worth of usable material amidst 2 hours of stuff.

In the future I'm going to start jotting down the time, when something cool happens.  That way I can just skip ahead to it.

That was my first real attempt.  I want to put some time into another one down the line.

My kid likes that kind of stuff, so he and I might make a short clip of something.
